THE RUN OF ‘NO BURGLARIES’ ENDED YESTERDAY WITH 4 BURGLARIES – ALL WITHIN A COUPLE OF HOURS, SO THEY MAY BE CONNECTED.

27/3  Wednesday 4 p.m. / 8.50 p.m.  Sports Facility, King Street.  Bike stolen from a bike rack outside.

 

RIVERSIDE & BELMONT:

27/3  Wednesday  6 p.m. / 8.30 p.m.  Burglary.  Norfolk Road.  Entry via rear garden – bottom glass panel in rear door forced.  Untidy search of house – X Box, Tablets X 2, Laptops X 2 cash and a back pack to put it all in stolen.

27/3  Wednesday 8.25 p.m.  St Luke’s Road.  Burglary.  Front door forced by four offenders.  One went upstairs and was disturbed by the owner – all four immediately made off – nothing stolen.

27/3  Wednesday 7.05 – 8.25 p.m.  Castle Drive.  Burglary.  Front door forced.  Untidy search of whole house.  Items moved about.  A box of after 8 mints stolen.

27/3  Wednesday  9.25 a.m. / 2.45 p.m.  Ellington Park.  Car side window smashed.  Nothing stolen.

27/3  Midnight / 8.45 p.m.  Dean Lane, Cookham Dean.  Burglary.  House being re-furbished broken into via a forced front door.  Not yet known if anything stolen.

26/3 – 27/3  Tuesday 7 p.m. / Wednesday 3 p.m.   Smewins Road, White Waltham X 2.  1.  Garage break – Door forced - 3 or 4 cases of wine stolen.  2.  Garage break – chain saws X 2, hedge cutters, leaf blower and strimmer stolen.

27/3  Wednesday 7 p.m. / 8 p.m.  Grenfell Road.  Attempted Burglary.  Glass panel in front door smashed in an attempt to force entry.  The offender was disturbed by the home owner and immediately made off.

28/3  Thursday 1.30 a.m.  Hotel, Manor Lane X 2.  A staff member heard car alarms sounding and went to investigate.  1.  Rear windscreen smashed – not yet known if anything stolen.  2.  Car driver’s side window smashed - not yet known if anything stolen.

26/3 – 27/3  Tuesday 6 p.m. / Wednesday 1.30 p.m.  Oldacres.  Car passenger door lock drilled and rear quarter light window smashed – the steering position has been moved – nothing stolen.

27/3  Wednesday  9 p.m. / 9.15 p.m.  Bray X 3.  1.  High Street.  Car LEFT INSECURE, while the owner went to a restaurant.  Cash & keys stolen.  2  Pub, High Street.  Car rear windscreen smashed – LAPTOP, IPAD and sports bag stolen.  3.  Pub, High Street.  Car rear windscreen smashed – LAPTOP, cash and a small suitcase stolen

RE: THE SCREENSAVER THAT APPEARS FROM THE POLICE TO SAY THE COMPUTER HAS BEEN LOCKED AS IT HAS BEEN USED TO ACCESS ILLEGAL SITES:

Hi jeff,

I have had this happen to me as well- pretty scary as it locks down your laptop and shows a webcam of your room !

 

I immediately realised it was a scam and managed to fix it myself by Googling it and following the instructions. It is not an easy task and I'm surprised I managed to get rid of it.

The most important thing to learn is - make sure that you have a good anti-virus system on your computer- even the free ones work.
