Crime: 17 June 2013

I had heard that the PCC Anthony Stansfeld was organising an event for ‘Voluntary Organisations’ in Reading in July.  I didn’t know the details, but did know – a lot of you out there, do represent all sorts of voluntary organisations, charities and of course NHW – the largest group of volunteers in the country:

As the Police and Crime Commissioner for Thames Valley, I am keen to engage with voluntary and community organisations in the area.  Reducing crime and supporting victims of crime, can only be done effectively by the partnership of all relevant agencies, including the voluntary sector.

This is why I am funding the ‘Safer Future Communities Network’ for 2013/14.

The Safer Future Communities Network has been established, to enable the Voluntary Sector to communicate and engage with me and other voluntary organisations in the Thames Valley, as well share new ideas.

The network will be an extremely useful information sharing platform and will include two events during the year.

The first event will take place on the 17th July in Reading.  It is free and open to all who join the ‘Network’. We hope to include a discussion on my priorities and funding and commissioning at the event.

For more information and to join the Safer Future Communities Network, please contact:

Police and Crime Commissioner for Thames Valley

I then received this from Kalika:

Dear Jeff

Many thanks for your email. Yes, the ‘Safer Future Communities Network’ is open to any - voluntary and community groups - along with charities that deliver frontline services and have an interest, in the work of the PCC.

The event on 17 July in Reading, is open to all members of the Network, and is to enable representatives of the voluntary sector, to interact with the PCC.

I would be very grateful if you could circulate information on the Safer Future Communities Network to your members and across the Thames Valley.

As this is an event for ‘Network’ members, I will then send details of the event and how to book a place, to anyone who responds.

With many thanks and warm wishes

Kanika
