I have had a request in from an IPhone user, to remove all the colour from the messages, as it causes problems to those receiving messages on their Smartphones – so – this is what they would look like.  The will of the majority will prevail – what do you think ???

I can tell you – the response so far from Windsor – whose message went out this morning is.........BRING BACK THE COLOUR !!!  One of the issues it did raise, was the cost of printing out the messages for other members.  You can of course print them out in black and white – or better still – sign them up on the Alert system, to get the messages direct ???

A message from Insp. Stuart Bosley, who heads up our local CID team.  He wants me to thank all of those that have phoned in over the last few days re Nottingham Knockers.   There have been dozens of calls !!!  They were seen walking up and down driveways and looking around the sides of properties - particularly in Old Windsor yesterday.  He gathered up his team and hit the streets !  They rounded up at least 6 Knockers – all of whom came from Kent !  Checked them out and saw them on their way, out of the Borough !!!!  He could only do this because the calls came in from you !  The calls also came in quickly, so the information as to where they were was relevant and he and his team could react.  Over to you if they come back.  We will respond !

Stuart also reported a really good result at this morning’s briefing after the theft of a Smartphone from a conference centre – again in Old Windsor.  The owner had very sensibly, downloaded and activated the Tracker signal in the phone.  This revealed it to be in a block of Flats in Reading, where a person very well known to us resides !!!!  If you have a Smartphone – can you please familiarise yourself with the Tracker Applications ???  If you have an Apple product, they are already pre-loaded, you just have to activate it.  You don’t need to run the Tracker all the time, though the GPS facility is brilliant ! – but be able to turn it on if your phone goes missing / mislaid / lost / stolen.

I have attached the Tracker APP Handout for you.

I have had this message in from Nottingham Police – It is reassuring that the advice I give, exactly matches theirs !!!

‘Some of the above burglaries have been opportunist crimes, particularly in the Jacksdale, Selston and Underwood villages.  It is important that doors and windows are securely shut and locked, especially at night, or when you are away from the room or house, even for short periods of time.  Should you see suspicious people or activity around homes, please inform the police immediately on the 101 number’.

‘Local officers would prefer to attend an innocent call made in good faith, than attend the scene of a crime just committed’.

I sent these out to Windsor today:

19/6  Wednesday  7.20 p.m. / 8 p.m.  Church, St Leonard’s Road.  Someone has walked into the church and walked into private areas and stole a laptop.  If you are connected with a local church in your area can you let them know.  We have a possible suspect which fits this particular MO.  His speciality is restricted areas / offices in churches, so they need to up their security for the time being.

18/6  Tuesday 3.30 a.m.  Common Road, Eton Wick.  The owner awoke to find someone climbing in through her bedroom window – she had left open a small top window and the offender had reached in an opened a larger window !!  It is very easily done !  As the offenders were disturbed and made off and nothing was stolen, they didn’t think it worth phoning the police at the time and the report didn’t come in until 6 p.m. the next day !!!..........................

20/6  Thursday 9 p.m.  Surly Hall Walk.  Post has gone missing.  Since I reported a case earlier his week, I have had several emails in from members whose post has been going missing.  Can everyone be alert to this ?  The problem is – we don’t know that we haven’t had post we didn’t know we were going to receive – if that makes sense ?  In one case, it was a new credit card sent out three months before the current card expires.  Who would be expecting that !  If you think your post is going missing let us and the post office know.  That way they can see if there are any patterns !!

19/6  Thursday 8 a.m. / 4.30 p.m.  Ouseley Road, Wraysbury.  Burglary through forced French windows.  Whole house searched – X Box, Laptops X 2, cash and electric drills X 2 stolen.  During the House to House enquiries, a neighbour did report seeing someone acting suspiciously on the driveway - but did not report it to the police – he is described as black, 6’ tall, in his 20s, short hair, clean shaven wearing a light grey top.  Another neighbour reported – again not reported to the police – a white man walked past his drive at 2 a.m. acting suspiciously and got into a small hatchback.  Anything like either of these reports should have come through to us on the 101 number immediately !

MEMBERS COMMENTS:

I have had an email in from Joanna, re a Tesco’s questionnaire scam email:

Hi jeff,

I sent a message to Tesco as this didn't feel quite right - nothing it put your finger on but I was just - uncertain.

Tesco phoned me to say  - a scam!  Please warn other people as it looks almost ok and tell Tesco.

Thanks Joanna

The scam is an email from Tescos – Dear Customer – anything not personally addressed to you is a sign of a scam – it goes on:

‘If you have a moment, we would be really interested to hear what you think about our online shopping service. This short online survey should take about 10 minutes to complete and will help us enormously’.

It then asks you to follow link which redirects you to a survey site.........DON’T DO IT.
