NOT A BAD 48 HOURS – APART FROM THE 2 BURGLARIES !

AN EVENT FOR YOUR DIARY:
Hi Jeff,

I have returned to the RBWM Community Wardens after a 2 year secondment and it is really good to be back.

Could you possibly promote the Fun Day at Braywick Heath Nursery, Saturday the 24th May.

Please see attached flyer.

Myself and Trish will be trying our hands at face painting and balloon modelling, so the youngsters can come and meet us on the day.  ‘Fingers Fred’, will be playing the keyboard amongst the flowers. Lots more as you can see by the poster.

We want to meet as many people as possible to spread the Community Safety message.

Many thanks,

Michelle Simmonds
RBWM Community Warden

We have had a charity box stolen from a local pub in Cookham.  In the past, this is usually the precursor to several such crimes.  If you visit a shop or pub that has a charity box on the counter, can you let them know ?  Genvieve asked if they were chained, up as they are in Supermarkets ?
PC Denise Jenkins has investigated:

The boxes are usually chained to the counter. Even if they were chained to the pumps, unlike at supermarket tills, they are not constantly manned.
In this case, it looks like they have undone the chain via the slip ring and left the chain behind.
Please circulate as far and wide as possible.

UNSOLICITED PHONE CALLS – one from Ann:

Hi Jeff,
Yesterday I received a phone call (tel.no. withheld),from a man who said he represented a Government Agency, helping people with debt.

I said I wasn't interested and had no need for financial help.  He raised his voice saying "Have you no debts" ?  I said it was nothing to do with him and put my phone down.

I expect the next question would have been for my bank details in order to lend me some money.  The caller had a Scottish accent.

I add Ann’s experience to re-enforce the message
YOU DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE, TO SOMEONE WHO HAS COLD CALLED YOU.

Ask yourself – whenever anyone asks you for information – If someone you had never met, nor seen before, leaned over in a restaurant from another table and asked for this information, would you happily supply it to them ?

IF THE ANSWER IS NO !  THEN DON’T !
