Crime: 30 May 2014

NO CRIME TO REPORT IN THE LAST 24 HOURS

IN FACT NO BURGLARIES ACROSS THE ENTIRE RBWM.

AND

NO CARS BROKEN INTO.

I have just carried out some very quick research in the police computers and can find 15 cases of Courier Fraud so far this month, across the entire Thames Valley.  We have only had the one here, reported by the taxi company.

This horrible crime is therefore not going away as we hoped and is happening, sometimes twice in a single day, in other areas.

Can we all therefore re-activate our contacts – district nurses, physios, day centres, carers, home helps, doctors surgeries – anyone who comes in contact with the elderly and vulnerable, who seem to be the target group.

Once again – can everyone spread the message as far and wide as they can.  It is still the same MO – a call from a police station in London – it could be a man or a woman, posing as a police officer, they have arrested some lads illegally using your cards etc.  You all know the score.

MEMBERS’ ADVICE:

Re the Fly Tipping I put out yesterday – I had this in from Paul:

Hi Jeff,

One of your correspondents - Liz, mentioned a neighbour who had had gardening work done - a tree removed - and who had the logs tipped onto her land.  Assuming that this was in RBWM, a posting onto Windsor and Maidenhead Freegle, mentioning that wood is available for collection and I am sure that the wood would soon disappear.

Paul

I had no idea this existed – what a brilliant idea.

Thanks Paul for an excellent suggestion.

Just in from Norman – scam bills from o2.  With the usual – Dear Customer.....’if this is more than you were expecting’......’click here’ for more details !  We all know what to do with theseBIN THEM.
Thanks Norman.

WINDOWS SCAM

Meryl confirms that the Windows scam is still going strong and feels, though she wasn’t fooled, it would fool someone who was less aware.  She used the – ‘I don’t have a computer’ response.  They just put the phone down !
Many thanks Meryl – we should all do the same.

JUST TO REASSURE YOU ALL ABOUT PHONING THE 101 NUMBER, IF YOU SEE SOMETHING HAPPENING:

Dear Jeffery

For the first time on 22 May evening I had occasion to call 101. The response was nothing short of electric.

Brilliant.

An arrest was made.

I shall not hesitate to use 101 should an occasion arise in future.

Many thanks to the police involved who were really on the ball.

It does work !
