Crime: 3 October 2014

A slight increase in Burglaries.  Please – even if they are not in your area – have a look at them below.  Many properties are entered through side gates to rear gardens, which are not locked or adequately protected.  No-one wants ‘Opportunist Thieves’ in their back gardens, where they cannot be seen by neighbouring properties.  Please make sure, all access points to your property are well secured.

BIKES
We are having a large number of bikes stolen right across RBWM, not only from the street, but also from sheds and garages.  In both cases they are often well secured, but strong bolt croppers, can cut through most chains.  Please report, anyone wandering around suspiciously in the early hours, to us on the 101 number.  We will send a team out to find them – an Area Search – we will need a good description.  You will be protecting both yourself and your community.
We also want you to have your bikes marked, so will assist you in any way we can.  Simply email your local Neighbourhood Team at their group emails, which I have set out above every Neighbourhood below.
They are very happy to come out and do that for you.  In the meantime, photograph your bike, write down all its full details including the serial / frame number, which is generally underneath, between the pedals – then email everything to yourself and let it sit in your inbox, in case it is ever needed quickly.  Same, for anything and everything, of value in your home.  A sharp digital image is really useful for us – and with modern cameras – it is free and takes no time at all !  You will find it very reassuring, once you have done it.

TESCO’S SCAM EMAILS:

Hi Jeff,

Could you make people aware of a New scam going around please.

I have had 28 emails from Tesco and Argos – asking me to fill in a ‘on-line’ survey by clicking on the attached link . Theses emails are actually coming from the USA.

I called Tesco and was told that this was a scam.

They DO NOT use American based Survey companies and that if they were to send out a survey, it would be with the appropriate Tesco headings.

THE RULE IS:

DO NOT OPEN THE ATTACHMENT,

Yours

Nick
