Many attempts have been made to address the problems of access to Holy Trinity School, the shortage of parking for the School and in School Lane, and of speeding traffic in Sutton Road. We believe that there should be no all-day parking of vehicles associated with the School in School Lane. Parking is also needed for coaches which visit the Stanley Spencer Gallery and other sites.
We recommend a feasibility study into the construction of a new access to the school across land opposite Sutton Close (diagram for illustration purposes only), and the creation of drop-off/collection point for pupils, and a public/School car park there. Any lighting should be at low level and as unobtrusive as possible. We recommend that traffic-calming measures be introduced onto Sutton Road, possibly with a mini-roundabout at the junction with Sutton Close. We are aware that this proposal involves Green Belt and privately-owned land, and are conscious of the potential costs.
