Crime: 25 November 2011

First a case that contains a warning for us all:
24/11/2011 6:50 p.m. Pub in Old Windsor. A man was seen to enter the pub wearing a long coat. He then purchased a drink at the bar. He took of his coat and draped it over a nearby chair covering a handbag. He then collected his coat – plus the handbag – and left. We hope this incident will be covered by the pub’s CCTV, but this is not a good time of year to have to cancel all your cards and organise replacements. This is very similar to the mobile phone thefts by people in coffee shops and restaurants where they cover the table with a map / postcards and when you say you don’t want any, or have given directions, they collect up the map / postcards together with any mobile phones inadvertently left out on the table ! You would be amazed when you walk around, how many expensive state of the art mobile phones are sitting on table tops – please do not put temptation into the way of thieves. If you are in a bar, pub or restaurant over the Christmas period, please pay particular attention to your handbags, purchases, wallets, mobiles etc..

For those that have been waiting for UV pens, the new delivery has just arrived and if you have asked for one, Sherise has been sending them out furiously this afternoon. If you have not yet asked for one – but will property mark your property with your postcode and house number, if I send one to you. Email me at the address below. Please include your full name and address – it makes life much easier for Sherise and speeds up the process.

I have just put the phone down from Alan in Ascot.
He subscribes to BTs, TPS (Telephone Preference Service) service, which blocks 'cold callers'. This service is free and provided by BT. You can register online at
 WWW.tpsonline.org.uk
or you can telephone 0845 070 0707. IT IS FREE. It usually takes 28 days to come into force. This afternoon he received a call asking him if he received unwanted calls. Of course he said yes. The could offer him a free service which would stop the calls. He explained he already had TPS, but they said this system was very simple and better and would only cost…….Please be prepared just to put the phone down on any unsolicited caller.
