Crime: 3 January 2012

I hope everyone has had a great Christmas and best wishes for a prosperous New Year. I am back, almost in one piece, from quite an exciting trip across Cambodia. I am now holidayed out for quite a while. We did continue to send out messages, but Sherise went on A/L just before Christmas. So – it’s back to business as usual.

First a message from Liz Davidson your PCSO:
Very sadly, one of my residents had six of her prize winning dogs stolen just after Xmas. Three have been recovered, but 3 are still outstanding. They are Tibetan Spaniels, so are rather rare.

Please follow the link below where there are photos of the 3 dogs and pass it on to anyone you think can help find them.

SCAMS:

A message from Dawn:
I have just received a call from an alarm company, saying that they are working in ‘partnership with the police’ when installing alarms. At the moment, there is no such ‘partnership’.

A TIMELY REMINDER FROM A RESIDENT RE THE GARAGE BREAK IN SHURLOCK ROW:…..

LOOK OUT, LOOK OUT – WE HAVE THIEVES ABOUT!!

A house and garden in The Street, was broken into last night sometime between 19.30pm and 12.30am .... while a party was going on in the house and with dogs about! Not a sound was heard.

It was an audacious theft – the thieves drove two vehicles (it seems) through iron gates next door, took out boundary fence panels to reveal the back of a garden shed in the adjoining property. A wood chipper (hired that day) was stolen as well as two chain saws........ mowers and other garden equipment were not touched.

The robbery appears to have been well planned and executed with precision – the thieves had a clear objective and knew exactly what they were doing and where to go. The Police were called and attended the scene.

So, this crime shows you just cannot be too careful. Always be vigilant and report ANY suspicious circumstances however trivial to the Police using the 101 number.

And if you see some Tree Surgeon strangers perhaps not seeming too proficient, do likewise!

Happy New Year!

Kind regards

John

A KIND NEIGHBOUR:
I am keeping an eye on my neighbour’s house while she is away (Newlands Drive). Someone has egged her windows – a brave thing to do to a 79-year-old lady who is just out of hospital following a heart attack! I will clean up the mess.

Stephanie
I hope we would all do the same for our elderly or vulnerable neighbours !

Eyes and ears.
