Crime: 2 March 2012

First a message from Sgt Colin Pike and his team down in Ascot – but I feel it is relevant for everyone:

Jeff
Can you put this out for me please ?

We have suffered a slight increase over the last month in theft from motor vehicles, with Laptops, Sat Navs, hand bags, purses, and wallets being stolen. We have obviously not got our message over to the public ! NO-ONE MUST LEAVE ANYTHING ON DISPLAY in their cars. I wish I had a pound for every time I have said this. DISPLAY AND YOU WILL PAY. Can everyone pass this message, as far and wide as they can - take you belongings with you. If you have a garage, remove the junk and put the car away.

I also need to know if there are suspicious persons/vehicles in the area, or if you are offered items “ON THE CHEAP”. All the little bits of information help build the bigger picture. Just phone the 101 number and ask to leave a message for your Neighbourhood Team, or email us on the Neighbourhood group email below.

Do you live near an unoccupied premise? It could be an empty house, part built, being renovated or even be an old property, waiting for demolition. If you do, please as Jeff says, be our “EYES & EARS“. We have some thieves who target this type of property and are ripping boilers off walls and taking copper pipes while the water is still connected – they are not clearing up or paying for the mess they leave !. They have no regard for the property and are causing thousands of pounds worth of water damage. They just leave pipes gushing water.

Please look out for builders, or in fact anyone visiting these premises at unusual hours - OR TURNING UP, at a derelict property all of a sudden. We need to catch these people. Please take down Index numbers and descriptions of vehicles, colours etc. including any writing on the side – companies / phone numbers etc. Descriptions of the people are so important, so pay particular attention to them – let them know you have seen them, but do not put yourself at risk !. If you see someone loading vehicles with copper, or boilers and they seem suspicious to you, then it’s 999. You won’t be criticised, as it is classed as a ‘crime in progress’ and hopefully will give us a chance of catching them in the act ! If not – we may be able to carry out an ‘area search’ and locate the van / people who match the description you have supplied.

HELP US TO HELP YOU – THE NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH WAY

Thank You.

PS 2937 Colin Pike ,
