Village Hardware to Become Toy Shop
Village Hardware is moving across to the Parade to make way for a Toy Shop. The new Toy Shop is to be run by Fred of Village Hardware's wife Angie. So it is being kept in the family.

New Library and Parish Office Get the Go-ahead
Everything is now in place for work to start on the new Cookham Community Project at Cookham Rise Primary School. This will comprise of a new library, cyber café, Parish Office and Community room. Some work has been carried out already outside the school to improve the parking. The new facility will increase the off road parking considerably.

Cookham.com's Worst Road Poll Presented to the Parish Council
Cookham.com presented the Worst Road Poll, that was carried out over a six week period in April and May, to Tony Prichard, Chairman of the Parish Council, at the Council Meeting held at Cookham Rise Primary School on Tuesday 5th June. The Council was extremely sympathetic to the comments made and said that they would continue to push the Borough Council on Cookham's behalf.

New Shoe Shop to Open in Cookham High Street
A new ladies' shoe shop is to be opened in the High Street, which will be much welcomed by those of us who now have to go further afield to find suitable footwear.

Skateboarder Closely Avoids Accident
A teenager closely avoided a bad accident on 30 May while skateboarding down Haldore Hill. Cookham roads are popular for skatebording teenagers, who say that there are no proper facilities for them to go.
Maidenhead has similar problems with young people skateboarding around the St Ives Road area. The Borough Council has had a temporary skatepark at Kidwells Park, run by the River Church. There are plans to build a permanent facility in Maidenhead.

Cookham Society Votes for New Chairman
The Cookham Society had its AGM on 24 May to a packed room at the Chartered Institute of Marketing at Moor Hall. There was an unprecedented number of people standing for the committee and there was even a vote for the new Chairman. John Bowley had decided to stand down, after an extremely exhausting year.
